Welcome to my blog. This is a personal project documenting an age old method of contact and communication, which is being overtaken by things like Twitter and Facebook.
My aim is to create a collection of marks, images, opinions and comments about what you see in these public spaces, how it makes you feel, and any experiences that you may wish to share.
I am trying to collect reactions from as many people as I possibly can. Let me know what you think about graffiti in public toilets. I don't mind what you say, I am interested in your images, views and opinions. I am not easily shocked and urge you to be as honest as possible.
I am not sure where this project is going, I might chose to make it public; but nobody will ever know who you are and no records will be kept.
I will be posting my own collected images and will aim to respond and reply to anyone who takes the time to contribute to my blog.
I think i know were this is. met a very cute young thing in here and had great sex
ReplyDeleteWhat would you like me to post? images
ReplyDeleteHi Adam
ReplyDeleteI think your project has potential but struggle a little to decide how to 'respond'. I think I would need to know more about your interest and more than that any research/reading you are doing that might locate the project critically.
Let me know how you think its going in terms of what you are finding out or becoming more interested in.
Cheers
Roddy
Slowly is the answer, but my ideas and interests are becoming more apparent to me, i am interested in the excitement and titilation these marks provoke. However on a more interlectual level this enquiry is bringing up fundamental questions about What art is? I am interested in how this marks are continually changing and evolving, setting narratives and history to the memories of visits, experiences left by others. I am starting to see this project as a form of documentation into a world that is rapildly changing, through modern technology like face book and on line dating in addition to social tolerance. On the whole gay men no longer need to Use cottages to procure sex, indeed there is no longerv a need to remain on the closet.
ReplyDelete“if you sprinkle when you tinkle please wipe the seat”….. nice!
ReplyDelete“These toilets are cleaned every hour” - a ubiquitous notice in public toilets now. No bad thing except that the graffiti has been cleaned off too. Shame. It was fun reading comments and seeing drawings. I particularly liked the anonymous dialogues and have been very tempted to scribble a comment myself but never seemed to have a felt tip handy.
It seems that the public message board of the toilet door has often been replaced with Helpline notices for a range of ills and car insurance. Going for a tinkle is much less interesting these days.
